We have a great one in our Club!
Our own member and Past President Jay Boatwright just recently won re-election as a Director of the Sacramento Suburban Water District.
Kudos and Congratulations Jay!

Carmichael School Project
Just completed 2 days at the Carmichael Elementary School book fair. Richard also came today. It was great. Sharon (librarian ) said yesterday that one person was plenty, though more were welcome. So Stan decided not to come. Stayed for about 1.5 hours today, 2 hours yesterday as there were more kids.
Richard didn’t want to be in the photo so it’s me and Sharon with kids.
Thanks for arranging this. I loved it!
Margaret
P.S. (B.E.Addition: Community Service Director, Vicky Boatwright was also part of the project.

A FESTIVE HOLIDAY PARTY
On December 13th, 2022, a festive holiday party was given by congenial and generous hosts, Dana Newell & David Thorman. Over 28 members and family of the Rotary Club of Carmichael reveled in the large quantities of delicious food and drink brought in potluck fashion. It shows that we love to party together - a great celebration for the holidays. Please click on the "Read More" button for more pictures of the event

MORE HOLIDAY EVENTS

The first 2 pictures (above) were from the San Juan Unified School District Holiday event, for which we sorted, organized, and helped families pick out the foods they wanted to take home, and Kari Bauer handed out new games to each family that filled their “passport” (checked in at each station, ie free coats/hats, food, crafts, etc.)  Members Rich Plath and Stan Roe arranged for a holiday food drive at Del Dayo Elementary School earlier in the month, and that was the food that was passed out at the Holiday event. Today we had the pleasure of learning from an environmental scientist, Trevor Clark, (left above) who spoke to us about snakes on behalf of the Northern California Herpetology Society. He tailored his remarks to specifically speak about rattlesnakes. To access a more detailed account of his informative talk,  click on "Read More" below.

During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org

Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
