Carmichael Rotary club members recently refurbished the Kids Hang Out after-school program rooms at the La Sierra Community Center complex. With the help of a Rotary District Grant, we gave the Carmichael Park District over $7,000 for new furnishings and storage shelving, along with paint and paint supplies, to spruce up the 2 rooms that are occupied by approximately 60 school-aged children after school each day. Our club members spent several hours on Saturday and Sunday, Nov 2 & 3, painting walls and the floor in both rooms and assembling shelving units. It has been an amazing transformation, changing the drab walls and mis-matched furnishings into bright new surroundings and efficient, kid-friendly furnishings.
