The Future of Rotary

R. I. Vice President Jennifer Jones

It seems that we did not have a speaker today, but our President was on the ball and had a substitute program. The Bulletin Editor was not there but Terry Sweeney took notes and I have embellished them only slightly.
A video was presented, featuring Rotary International Vice President Jennifer Jones who spoke of the future of Rotary. Some of her points were:
  • Do Rotary the way it works for you by relaxing the rules if needed and letting your Club reflect your community.
  • Attract young thinkers no matter what their age.
  • Who we are as an organization is not just a service and humanitarian organization. What makes us different is:
    • We are leaders by mindset, not title
    • Rotary’s connectivity and Networking process
    • Community Service scaled globally, collectively
The speaker gave specific examples on each point.

District Conference - 2018
Book Donations, the Gifts that Keep on Giving - update, March 7, 2017
During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are some of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Berta Boegel, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
rboegel@saclibrary.org

As of April 10, 2017, we have purchased nearly 150 titles in honor of our speakers! Because of the large number of books, we are not showing them all at this time.
