THE CARMICHAEL CLUB HAS FOUND A NEW MEETING LOCATION
We meet at the Stage 76 Kitchen and Bar at 7600 Fair Oaks Blvd., near the Manzanita split, located at the corner of Fair Oaks Blvd and Wayside Lane. For those who have been in the Club awhile, we used to meet at this restaurant when it was called the Capri.
Vicky Boatwrightsays that this event should be fun to volunteer for - let her know if you want to attend..
Mark has sent out a form for you to fill out and return.
Get your "balls in order" and practice for this important match!
Instructions as to our participation will be given by Jay Sedlak:
This is a Club Member only event - numbers are limited - See Walter Malhoski to reserve a spot..
Mike and Leigh-Ann Reinero were guests at our Rotary meeting today. They came to express their “thanks” to our Club for all the support we have given them over the years – a nice gesture! They also announced that they are moving to Florida but will continue as members of the Passport Club.
(As you may know the council on legislation has determined that any Rotarian can belong to any chosen club in the world. This is a boon for Rotary that the advent of Zoom has brought about which now allows instant “virtual” attendance. A case in point is our own Vince Iosso.)

Mission Oaks Spring Carnival
On Saturday, May 21st, 2022, Richard Olebe, Rich Plath and Ramouna Roikjer attended the Mission Oaks Spring Carnival at Gibbons Park. Richard reported that the summer carnival was well attended by kids and their parents. Children enjoyed playing a cornhole game brought by Ramouna. A few of our new Rotary brochures were handed out to some parents. It was a fun day for the kids
We were fortunate today to have as our speaker, Shawn Harrison who the Founder and Co-Director of Soil Based Farms which is a non-profit urban farming and education center located in Sacramento, CA. He gave an interesting update (slide show) of this wonderful growing program in our area and how we can connect with their farms and food....click on "Read More" below for more information
Now the "Happy Thoughts" collections was taken over by our own esteemed member, Geronimo. Mark Beil BONGED THE GONG in celebration of his wife, Carol's birthday, then also Mark's birthday, and their Anniversary (they were wed in 1980) and also celebrated his 9 hole disc. golf course (wow! 5 events in one); Paul De Guerre since his daughter and family are coming from Australia to visit; Frank Pease put in his meal money for some reason; George Abraham put in $20 for the great speaker today; Phil Danz put in meal money, $25, because Geronimo shamed him into it after he gave $25 himself, but last/not least is Walter Malhoski who BONGED THE GONG mentioning that, in memory of a naval officer who, went on his last voyage last week and will be sent off with a military honor guard whose name is Bobby McGee. Also he wanted to salute to all veterans this Memorial Day.

During the incumbency of President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library.
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org
Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
