THE CARMICHAEL CLUB HAS FOUND A NEW MEETING LOCATION
We meet at the Stage 76 Kitchen and Bar at 7600 Fair Oaks Blvd., near the Manzanita split, located at the corner of Fair Oaks Blvd  and  Wayside Lane. For those who have been in the Club awhile, we used to meet at this restaurant when it was called the Capri.

Community service - Vicky Boatwright:
  • Unfortunately, Effie Yeaw has cancelled the Habitat Restoration February 26 workday.  Hopefully they will have another one soon.  They are supposed to let me know which ones will be a "go", so stand by.
  • Mission Oaks Recreation & Park District (serving the Arden Arcade area) have decided they will not be having a pancake breakfast and since the event is very small and doesn't require a lot of volunteers, will not need our help at their Easter Blast on 4/16.
  • Mission Oaks Park District still would like us to participate in their Kids Summer Carnival on 5/21.  They would like us to have a Rotary table to promote our club and Rotary in general, which I think we can/should do.  They will let us know what else we can help with when the time is closer - they are still in the early
I'm also working with Carmichael Elementary to see what else we can do for them, and I am staying in touch with the Carmichael Park District regarding help they can use.  Do you have a suggestion of a community partner or project you think would be good for our club?  If so, let's talk about it!!

Cheers,
Vicky

Tri Tip Fundraiser

We have successfully completed our Tri Tip Fundraiser on March 11, 2022.  We sold 33 dinners for four to participants for $100 each which gave the equivalent of 132 dinners. We had additional donations of $557.52. After paying Jackson Catering, we netted
$ 2,186.89. Not bad for a delicious dinner that will help our Club Charities. We must compliment President Dick Bauer for the fundraising idea and putting it together with Jackson Catering and for Heine Roikjer's Carmichael Grocery Outlet which provided us a place (in front of his store) to distribute the dinners and to buy extra wine.
Below are some satisfied consumers who ate their dinners at Dave Thorman and Dana Newell's home.

Sacramento Food Bank
Ten steadfast members and friends of our Club showed up at the Food Bank on Bell Ave and spent the better part of 4 hours putting food in boxes to help feed needy seniors in Elk Grove.
Those participating are : Dick and Kari Bauer, Jay and Vicky Boatwright, Richard Olebe, Frank Pease and friend Michelle, and his son, Alex, Stan Roe, and Phil Danz. Our boss and tour guide Andie, she said that we filled 479 boxes, and delivered tons of non-perishable, most canned foods.
We left our duties a little bit after 2 in the afternoon, tired, but happy with our accomplishment. See Photos below:

HAPPY THOUGHTS

Now the "Happy Thoughts" were as follows: Magnanimous Walter Malhoski BONGED THE GONG twice because tomorrow is his son's birthday and his grandson Levi is walking- oh, and for St. Patrick's day; Ramouna Roikjer celebrated that her daughter got rid of her cast; George Abraham celebrated doing fruit tree trimming and driving past the gas station with his Tesla; Mark Urban also said something about an electric car; Troy Drennon had a happy time with his son with extended "T-Ball" practice; Paul DeGuerre bragged that his 56 Ranchero would "blow the doors off" electric cars; Geronimo talked about a Zoom wine tasting where you tasted wine from different regions with the winemakers themselves - he BONGED THE GONG for the Jim Thompson Society.

THE DRAWING

A bottle of red wined deservingly went to Paul DeGuerre

During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org

Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
