Hello Carmichael Rotarians!

I now have more information on the monthly food distribution program at the school district office on Walnut Ave.  They are asking for our help for the 12-2 pm food packing portion of the day, but welcome anyone who wants to stay longer.  The first monthly session will be Aug 24, so it will be every 4th Wednesday of the month.   Everyone who wants to participate need to do 2 things ASAP:

1) make an appointment for free fingerprinting ASAP at the district office - use this link:  https://booknow.appointment-plus.com/y7j3ej94/

2) sign up through the volunteer system (if you haven't already), using this link:  www.sanjuan.edu/volunteer   When you sign up, select FACE or Family & Community Engagement Department as your site.  Let me know if you have any questions about this process.

Let me know if you want me to add you to the list of interested members I have from my first email.  I know some can't do every Wednesday and some can't work this month, but that's okay!  I should have more information regarding how to sign up for each monthly session soon.

Thanks!

Carmichael Rotary Receives "Valued Partner's Award"

At a recent event, Past Presidents Jay and Vicky Boatwright, and President Richard Olebe (right),
received the San Juan Certified School District's Award for being a "Valued Partner" for the year 2001-2002. Congrats Carmichael Rotary!

In lieu of our regular meeting on August 2, 2022, 10  Club representatives attended the River Cats vs Tacoma baseball game. Unfortunately Tacoma won 5 to 2.

On this special day, August 9th, 2022, we were honored to have District Governor Karen Cendro visit our Club to tell us about her exciting plans for our new Rotary Year. The District's Theme this year is "Serve It Up" and speaks to fulfilling basic needs - food, water, shelter. Club members brought canned goods for the Food Bank, which abundantly filled one table in our meeting room at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Please click on "read more" for more information.....

During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org

Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
