The Sacramento Medical History Museum
Our Club was honored to welcome an old friend, Bob La Perriere, M.D., who came to talk to us about a fascinating local museum, The Sacramento Medical History Museum - of which Bob is curator. We got to learn about Sacramento's history of medicine from the Gold Rush days onward with a smattering of rare artifacts that are shown in the Museum. To learn more click on "Read More" below:

HAPPY THOUGHTS

Now the "Happy Thoughts" started with Dick Bauer who put in $20 because he went to Monterey and saw seven shows and got close to Clint Eastwood; Geronimo BONGED THE GONG for Mother's Day; Jay Boatwright gave the exact meal money, $25 for their daughter's wedding (I was surprised he had $25 left over and got a laugh - Geronimo put in an extra $10 for that); Bob La Perriere gave $20 because his son is turning 50 and for his anniversary - that's all folks.

THE DRAWING

None

During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org

Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
