Editor's Note:
This last few weeks have been very busy for the Carmichael Club. We have had two excellent speakers, Bocce Ball practice, and most importantly, our District Conference. For that reason, I have condensed two Newsletters into one:

"Thoughts" for the Day":
April 29th: Karen Munsterman - Two instructional thoughts:

If you always wait to have your ducks in a row,
you might never get across the street.

Sometimes you might have to gather up what you have
and make a run for it!

May 3rd: Walter Malhoski

Those who can't remember the past
are condemned to repeat it.

Nothing is inherently and invincibly youmg
except spirit.

George Santayana

APRIL 29TH: SUSAN MAXWELL SKINNER, AND MAY 3RD: AARON FERGUSON, BJORK ROIKJER, DAVID BALLARD

THE CARMICHAEL CLUB HAS FOUND A NEW MEETING LOCATION
We meet at the Stage 76 Kitchen and Bar at 7600 Fair Oaks Blvd., near the Manzanita split, located at the corner of Fair Oaks Blvd  and  Wayside Lane. For those who have been in the Club awhile, we used to meet at this restaurant when it was called the Capri.

Karen Munsterman is accepting volunteers to assist athletes on Saturday, May 14th - she will be in touch via e-mail on details.

Vicky Boatwright is retired!

Vicky was honored for her nearly 20 years at Anheuser-Busch, and her recent retirement, with a dinner at Allora last (the other) night. Thank you to her bosses Melissa Ameluxen and Kirk Kimmelshue and former boss Andrew Baldonado !

A Memorable District Conference - Chaired by Jay & Vicky Boatwright

It was a "slick", very well organized District Conference. The chairs, our own Jay and Vicky Boatwright, were able to pull off a seamless, well organized and entertaining conference with great speakers and with many contributors. See "Read More" for more pictures and information.

Lady Diana - Susan Skinner
It was very nice to have an old friend to our Club, Susan Skinner, to talk about a subject she knows a lot about - Lady Diana. Susan was appointed to the press core to follow Lady Di for eight years in the 1980s. She has amazing insights into the life of Diana. Click on "Read More" for more informantion.

Potential Sites Reservoir - Aaron Ferguson
Attorney Aaron Ferguson, who just happens to be the son-in-law of Stan and Nan Roe, brought us exiting news about a new reservoir which is proposed  to be constructed in Northern California in the next 10 years. To me, this is exciting and positive stuff because of the lack of water in California. Aaron gave a detailed overview of the project. See "Read More" below for more information.

THE DRAWING

None

During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org

Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
