President  Dick Bauer opened, on April 12, 2022, a  Zoom meeting and an important one. Today, we are instructed on "How to play Bocce Ball", in preparation for our upcoming match at Carmichael Park with our friendly competitors, the Carmichael Kiwanis Club on June 2nd, 2022 at 6 p.m.

Esteemed member Phil Danz, after leading in the "Pledge of Allegiance", and 4 Way Test, gave the following (appropriate for our times):

"Thought" for the Day":

“I never considered a difference of opinion in
politics, in religion, in philosophy,
as cause for withdrawing from a friend”

UPCOMING PROGRAMS
President Dick Bauer sees Bocce Ball in the Carmichael Rotary Club's future. Maybe this is because we have an match with the Carmichael Kiwanis Club on June 2nd at Carmichael Park.  Dick has shown his serious support for this event by committing a whole program to learning about Bocce Ball for our members. HAPPY THOUGHTS

Now the "Happy Thoughts" were as follows: Vince Iosso Bonged the Gong (to the Club's Foundation) in celebration that his granddaughter won 1st and 2nd places in a Taekwondo Tournament; Dick Bauer gave his meal money ($20) for celebrating his birthday weekend in Monterey with his daughter's family; Geronimo sacrificed a meal money amount in celebration of Alan Gallaway's birthday; Jay Boatwright gave meal money in celebration that Mark Urban has accepted to be Club Service chair in this next Rotary year; Troy Drennon gave meal money to tell us about the wonderful time he is having with coaching his son's T-Ball team, and finally Walter Malhoski BONGED THE GONG because his grandson Levi, had his first birthday and went on a boat ride (as you know, any Gong Bonger to the Carmichael Rotary Foundation is credited to your Jim Thompson Fellowship unless you specify differently)

THE DRAWING

None - a Zoom meeting

During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org

Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
