President Richard Olebe opened the 4th meeting of the Carmichael Rotary Club at the Old Spaghetti Factory near Watt Ave. He fulfilled all of his commitments, namely, the reading of the "Pledge", "the Four-Way Test", and the "Thought for the Day":

Hi Carmichael Rotarians,
For those of you who signed up for the 8/31 food sorting/distribution, you should have received an email from Maria Godoy stating the times have changed.  I've emailed her to clarify, and they have changed the first shift to 10 am to 1 pm and the second shift is 1 pm to 4:30 pm.  I know the website says 10:30 to 1 pm, but they'd like us there at 10:00).
Once you have signed up as a volunteer for the location called "FACE" on this link:  www.sanjuan.edu/volunteer, then go to this link to sign up for the shift(s) you will attend:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050B4AA5A822A6FD0-sanjuan
I encourage everyone to also sign up for fingerprinting after you've signed up as a volunteer for FACE (at the sanjuan.edu/volunteer link above), then make your fingerprinting appointment at this link: https://booknow.appointment-plus.com/y7j3ej94/
Fingerprinting might be required for volunteering this year at Carmichael Elementary, and it takes awhile to get the necessary approvals, so it's better to get it done early.  If you have had your fingerprinting done recently through another organization, please let me know and I'll check to see if the school district will accept it.
We still don't have close to the 10 club members who expressed an interest in signing up for a shift.  They are counting on Carmichael Rotarians to help, so please do so ASAP.
If you have any questions or have trouble with any of the signups, please let me know.
Thanks,
Vicky

During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Greg Freeman, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library
gregfreeman@saclibrary.org

Over the past eight years, nearly 500 books have been donated to the Carmichael Public Library. We show only the latest donated books with the names of the Guest Speakers.
