UPCOMING EVENTS
Hi Carmichael Rotarians!  Do you want to sign up for the monthly food distribution for the San Juan School District?  The January online signups are available at this link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E4AA4A728A7FAC61-45302271-sanjuan#/

I sign up for the setup and food bagging jobs every month but there are several other jobs throughout the day if you're interested.  Jay and I have been doing this monthly for over a year and really enjoy it, and I know a few other Carmichael Rotarians have participated in the past.  If you sign up, be sure to wear your Carmichael Rotary hat or shirt to advertise our organization (they encourage it).

When the signups for future months arrive, I'll forward them to you all.

Happy Holidays!
Vicky Boatwright

Please contact President George Abraham to find out who to contact to volunteer in the above projects.....they need your help!

We didn't have R.I. President Gorden J. McInally in person at our January 9th Meeting at the OSF near Watt, but we had the next best thing. Gorden talked about many challenges in Rotary in his year - most specifically, an emphasis on "Mental Health"

TO PROMOTE LITERACY
During the incumbency of  President David Thorman,(2013-14) it was decided that instead of giving a particular gift, ie coffee mug, pen etc. to honor our guest speaker each week, we would simply donate a book to the Carmichael Library. So below are many of the books that we have donated in honor of recent speakers.
It is the "gift that keeps of giving" because those who will check out these books from the library will derive many hours of pleasure for years to come, and it enhances learning and literacy. The books are chosen by Jenell Heimbach, Branch Supervisor, Carmichael Library, subsidiary of the Sacramento Public Library. As of November 2023, we have donated upwards of 500 books!
