It was a wonderful night for a speech contest. All the personnel were at the ready -the Judges, the tellers, the timekeeper and Alan Gallaway ready to be the emcee for the contest. We had three contestants and their presentations were excellent.  The contest went smoothly and although the judging was close, the winner turned out to be Noah Mannion , 2nd Brent Crosby, and 3rd Elizabeth Roe. The first-place winner was awarded $200 (and participation in the semi-final in a few weeks) and 2nd place- $100, and 3rd place $50. It takes a lot of coordination to put on a contest like this and Alan did a great job as emcee, co-chairmen David Thorman and Phil Danz watched carefully every phase, and especial kudos go to our esteemed judges, Stan Roe, Jay Dudley, and Diana Irvine. The tellers, , Katha Danz and Vince Iosso did a good job and not to be forgotten, the timekeeper Jay Sedlak, who made sure that we knew whether the speaker’s talks were between 5 and 8 minutes. In the last few years, three of our contest winners have gone on to win the semi-final contest, and compete in the Finals - we are proud of them all.
