Our Club enjoyed having a special guest speaker, Ardath (Ardi) Ferris today (October 17th, 2023) who talked to us about the problem of homeless youth in the San Juan School District. Ardi is particularly knowledgeable about the problem because she has spent 26 years with the San Juan School District and was involved with the McKinney-Vento Education Program for Homeless Youth. Ardi grew up in Carmichael and attended U.C. Davis with a major in English. Ardi presented a very interesting and slide show about what the McKinney-Vento program does for these unfortunate and often troubled kids.
