A lot was happening in Carmichael Rotaryland this past two weeks, so that I have decided to
have this edition encompass all of our activities - namely the meeting of June 5th, the Rotary Rivercats baseball game,
the outstanding Carmichael Rotary Easter Seals golf tournament, and our meeting of June 12th in this Newsletter.

The first meeting, June 5th, was opened by our slowly shrinking but still proud nearly lame duck President Dick Bauer, and he gave the podium over to political expert Doug Haaland, who, after leading our group in the "Pledge" , gave the following "Thought for the day:

It has been 14 years since Ronald Reagan passed away; 50 years since Robert Kennedy was assassinated; tomorrow, June 6th, is the 74 Anniversary of  D-Day.
"There are no constraints of the human mind, no walls around the human spirit, no barriers to our progress except those we ourselves erect."

Ronald Reagan

The second meeting, June 12th, was conducted by shrinking lame but proud President Dick Bauer, and he gave the podium to our newest member Jane Lampard Haaland who led us in the "Pledge" and gave the following "Thought of the Day":

"Giving frees us from the familiar territory of our own needs by opening our mind to the unexplained words occupied by the needs of others"

Barbara Bush
