It was not a small project, the procuring of 140 boxes for 140 needy families. Taking them to the Water Tower garage, and spreading them out and then filling with canned goods and soft staples. It was phase one of our Christmas Baskets project for 2013. It was proud moment, to see the turnout of around 40 people, consisting of Carmichael Rotarians, their children and grandchildren, friends and their children. And we had plenty of food contributed by grammar schools in our area (kudos to them). Past District Governor Jim Thompson supervised the undertaking which went swimmingly and we finished our task in about two hours.....

The finale of the project and the most fun, was the delivery of the filled baskets to the needy families. We did this on the next day Saturday, December 21st beginning at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers back up their SUVs, Vans, and Trucks to the garage for loading and off they went to the over 100 families homes to deliver them right to their doorstep. All was accomplished pretty much by noon. The needy families were most appreciative of the food and we were happy for what we had accomplished!
